I recently had a copper IUD placed about 1 month ago and I have noticed that my level of sexual arousal and libido have increased significantly. I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this after having an IUD placed? I know technically the copper IUD should not affect anything given that it does not release hormones, however, sensations during sex just seem to be much more prominent. For example, deep penetration prior to IUD insertion usually caused sharp pains where I would have to move away/off of my partner, yet now the sensation is pleasurable akin to pressing lightly on a bruise or massaging sore muscles to which I push back against the deep penetration. I’ve also noticed that orgasms are much more intense, and I think that could be due to the additional pressure the IUD places on the uterus during orgasmic uterine contractions. The orgasm feels like it lasts much longer and I no longer have to try to incite full-body orgasms, they just happen each time now.
I’m still on Depo as my shot was done about a month before the IUD insertion, and Depo usually decreases my libido and arousal dramatically. Just curious if anyone else experiences more intense pleasure after having their IUD inserted because I can’t find any relevant information in google searches.
The copper IUD actually has a lot of side effects including longer/heavier periods, bad cramping, and changes in libido.
Every BODY is different. There are a lot of underlying genetic and environmental factors that only YOU experience.
It’s a foreign object in your body and this is how your body is adjusting to it.
Wow. I am so glad to have found this. I am so glad you are discovering more intense pleasure but also wanted to make sure you are staying healthy because I worry so much about women with copper IUDs now. I ended getting VERY sick from my copper IUD years ago and its taken a long time to get fully healthy again. First, I got copper poisoning which depleted all of my zinc and gave me terrible breakouts. Next, it caused unbearable bleeding, then sex became incredibly painful whenever we would go deep or most positions in general near my tailbone and right below my belly button (uterine area). soon, i lost my sex drive, libido and even attraction to my partner. i had to get it removed and i still struggle with my sexual drive and im here trying to discover it again and what i truly want with myself and my partner in bed! be careful dear friend with the IUD!
Thanks for sharing your experience, blossom. I’ve been waffling on getting an IUD and def. leaning towards not copper because I’ve heard some folks having really bad experiences like yours.
