Hi! A toy I bought a few years from Spectrum will no longer charge. I want to recycle it responsibly, but I cannot find any recycling programs for old sex toys. Any ideas?

First of all kudos for recycling! Captain planet thanks you. Unfortunately there isn’t one right way to do it especially since it varies so much from state to state in terms of recycling standards. When I’ve recycled bulk vibrators when I managed a physical location of a sex shop we called an electronics recycling location and just double checked that they’d be fine recycling those items.
So with that being said, I would treat it like a laptop. Especially rechargeable toys. However you’d recycle a broken laptop in your area is the safest bet to dispose of the toy.

Captain Planet! Hells yes! I’m curious to hear a little more about these bulk toy drop offs. Could only imagine some of the looks you received. Hopefully you have a similar sense of humor that I do and would say some outlandish shit.

This made me cackle because my friend’s dog has a favorite chew toy that 100% looks like a prostate play toy and people always assume it’s not a dog toy but it actually is, hahaha, so this makes sense!

On a similar vein… my ex pressured me to buy him a prostate vibrator, and then he never wanted to use it, and we broke up. I have just had it in a box for a year and a half, unopened, and I’m not sure what to do with it. I asked my local sex shop and the woman said “just give it to a gay friend” (which felt kinda weird for someone to say, but…) any suggestions on what i could do with this unused and unopened toy?
If it’s unused and unopened, might be able to resell it somewhere, especially online somewhere with an active kink community. But that can be tricky too.
If it’s unused, you could also save it for a future partner to use, or depending on the specific type of toy use it for yourself too. But I get not wanting to reuse a toy meant for someone else.
If you have a dungeon nearby, could ask them as well, a lot of dungeons and places that host play parties have toys onsite, and if it is sealed and not used, they might take it.

Also def. weird for them to say just give it to a gay friend, because anyone with a prostate can enjoy prostate stimulation, and a toy shop should know that. So really if you have a close friend that you feel comfortable gifting it to for them or their partner to use, that’s a good option too.

Funny enough, i ended up getting into a conversation with a friend about sex toys and they mentioned they were in the market for something like what i have and i said “well… do i have great news for you!!” And now I’m giving it to them and their partner.

Love this! As long as folks clean them properly, there is no harm in gifting a toy that isn’t your jam to someone else. I wish this was more an accepted thing in general!
